Computer Q&A Board  /  Questions  /  Missing .dll files? What do do? How to fix?

I recently tried to load Adobe PageMaker as well as software to make a USB tv antenna device work.  On both attempted installations of the software, I got a message saying that a particular file from my dynamic link library, i.e. a .dll file, was missing.  Were different ones but both had missing files.

Can I search for the particular missing .dll files on the 'Net? Do I have to find and then install these files? (I do not have/cannot find my original WinXP disc).  Is there a self-repair utility already as part of WinXP on my machine perhaps?

Any ideas, suggestions would be appreciated.

You can find the .dll file online and put it in your Windows/system32 folder.  You should not have to install it.  Hopefully, that will work.  Be cautious about replacing anything files.
I believe the self-repair utility needs the WinXP disc.
