Computer Q&A Board / Questions / Startup Folder

At times my computer stalls just as the LAN and Kaspersky icons are trying to start up. Rebooting usually fixes this. Before I begin to suspect Kasperssky as the problem I would like to know why it is that Kaspersky is checked when I look in msconfig/startup, but I do not see the shortcut icon in the startup folder itself. Might putting the shortcut incon in that folder help with this problem?

When I tried Kaspersky, it had a tendency to block and freeze some programs. I felt that it was too invasive.
The Startup folder is just one of the places that the Startup tab of msconfig lists. It also shows startup locations in the registry. Startup locations in the registry do not show up in the Startup folder of Start. Putting a shortcut in the Startup folder will only make things worse.
