Computer Q&A Board / Questions / Internet Explorer 8 didn't install right
Posted by: glenn, May 4th, 2009, 2:34pm
Installed IE 8 thinking it was update of last version. Problem is it only "flashes" on screen instead of opening. Can't un-install using "add/remove" programs. Microsoft solutions tell me I have the wrong system (AMD Turion 64x2 TL50)for their cure. Then they send me into the rotary process where I rotate through their suggestions. IE 8 files are in my windows directory, but no un-install file is there. Only other symptom is "delete" key doesn't work in Outlook Express.
Any suggestions on how to get it out of my system?

Problem must be the result of downloading KB963027 update of 4/16/09. Don't know why it took so long to disable IE7, but it did. It shows as an update to IE7 on "ADD/REMOVE Programs" page. I removed it and re-booted. All is well!
