??)

hi everyone..

uhmm..
i just want to ask for help about installing USB 2.0 in my computer..
because i'm getting a hard time dealing with it..

i'm using Microsoft XP home edition Service pack 3 and still it cannot detect my flash drive..

i've downloaded an update for USB 1.1, a USB 2.0 update..
when i'm installing it a message box appeared saying:

"Setup has detected that the Service Pack version of the system installed is newer than the update you are applying to it

You can only install this update on Service Pack 1."

is this means that i've got to uninstall the service pack 2 and 3 in my system in order for me to install this update?

can someone tell me if there's a way to install the update of USB 2.0 without uninstalling the service pack 2 and 3..

please answer this..
your help will be much appreciated..

thanks..

it seems that you already have a USB 2 update installed via your service packs. The problem could be due to a duplicate/improper drive letter assignment. Try the following. Right-click on the computer and select Manage. Scroll down to Storage and click on Disk Management. In the page that opens see if your USBdrive icon is present. If it is present then it is not appearing on your desktop due to a possible drive letter problem. Click on the USB drive icon and select Change Drive Letters and paths. Within the assigned USB drive that it appears, click the change button and choose a unassigned letter.

Sorry if that did not work. Try the following.
In device Manager right-click on all USB related items and choose uninstall. Reboot and windows will reinstall all of them. Retry the Drive.
Have you checked that the Flash Drive works on another PC.

If this does not work you might have to update your Mobo drivers and BIOS to the latest versions. Post if you need help doing that.
