Computer Q&A Board / Questions / compressing video files

I can never send any video files from my hard drive to friends without getting a message that the file is too large and can't be emailed. Someone told me to download a free 'zip' prgram that's offered on the web. I tried that, and I still couldn;t figure out how to use the program. When I thought it was working I;d still get the error message. Should I buy a win-zip program at the store? Is this even what I need to compress the video files from my hard drive so that I can email them to friends? Please help!!!!! I consider myself computer literate, but this problem has me flumoxed! Thanks!

I do not think that zipping it will reduce its size very much.
Your email provider must have a size limit for attachments. The only thing I would think you can do is get an email provider that does not have size limits for email attachments or don't sent out attachments.
