Is there a way to determine which program is starting a computer in hibernation?[face=Times][/face]

   It is probably the network waking it up.  That can be disabled.  Please see the following two threads for more information:

Neither of the threads solved the problem.

Additional info I should have provided initially follows:
My os is Windows XP Home SP3
I checked "Scheduled Tasks" - nothing there would be causing the wakeup from hibernation.

In light of my experience, i think you are right in that one of the problems - that with the display - could be down to your graphics card. I have just had to disable Hydravision on my ATI card for a very similar reason, only in this instance it was the task boxes in Outlook which were displaying gobbledeygook.

I have had a similar problem in the past, too, with some of the more esoteric features on Nvidia software.

Create a new User account and log on to that and try hibernation and see if that works.

My hibernation problem has been solved.  I believe that an Iolo Techbologies product (System Mechanic Profession - Versions 8.0.0, 8.0.1 and 8.0.2) was causing the problem.  I just downloaded and installed Version 8.0.3 and my computer nolonger awakens from Hibernation.  Thanks to all who responded.

I raised a similar question on a previous thread (now lost) and solved the automatic re-boot from Hibernation as follows.

In the "Power - APM Configuration" section in the Bios, I origionally had ALL options "Disabled". The problem was solved when I ENABLED only the "Energy Star 4.0c Support" option.

Now, the computer no longer starts up by itself when computer is activated to a "Hibernation" shut down.
