My CD drive suddenly stops responding for no apparent reason.  When I check it in Device Manager, it shows that everything is fine.  After restarting my system, it starts working again.  Has anyone experienced a similar problem?

   My guess would be that a program is accessing it and making it unavailable.

If my CD drive stops responding because some program is still running, how do I turn it off without restarting?  I have tried to go to Cont-Alt-Del, but nothing shows up under programs running.

   Look at the Processes list and see if you can find something in there that may be using it.
