Computer Q&A Board / Questions / Extraction in WinRescue
Posted by: Van Hoffe, August 5th, 2008, 6:01pm
For several weeks I use WinRescue and store my backups on an external drive (M:\). All worked well except however for using the Extractor. I didn't succeed in extracting individual files from the backups. When I press the ...button, nothing appears in the window "Contents of Backup File". Instead an other window opens, titled "Select a Winrescue Backup File". In that window there are only backups of the registry on the hard drive (C:\), but it is possible to open in this window the external drive (M:\) and then you see all the WinRescue backups that are made.
I did not succeed however in placing them in the window "Contents of Backup File" of the Extractor to enable an extraction.
The backups on M:\ do appear in the "List of all Backup Sets" in the Backup Manager and also in the Crash Fixer (most recent backup).
Is there a solution to this problem?

You need to select one of the WinRescue backup files in the "Select a WinRescue Backup File" window and then click on the Open button. When you do that, the Contents of Backup File box will show the drives on your computer and eventually fill them up with the files in the Backup. It may take a while for the Contents of Backup File box to be filled up depending on how big the backup is. Under the Check All Files and Entire Directory buttons, it will tell the progress of opening the Backup file.

WinRescue works well.
