I'm sure this has been asked before but I can't find it.
How do I transfer my saved messages in OE to another computer?

All of the messages in Outlook Express are kept in one directory on your harddrive. If you do a search for .dbx (right click on Start, select Search... from the popup menu, enter .dbx in "All or part of the file name", and click on the Search button), you should be able to find that directory. Each folder in Outlook Express is shown as a dbx file.
If you find two or more different directories, the one with the more current files is the one to use.
Copy the files to the new computer and then use File - Import - Messages to import the messages into Outlook Express.
If it is an empty Outlook Express, you can just copy the files to the appropriate directory for that Outlook Express instead of importing them and they will show up in Outlook Express when you start it.

Ray
when I do a search I can find no .dbx files.
when I open the "outlook express" folder in "program files"with windows explorer I see no folders at all - just a dozen or so files.

It is located somewhere like, C:\Documents and Settings\HP_Owner\Local Settings\Identities\{89EF8948-5C9E-47BA-AEF3-2DB634FD6694}\Microsoft\Outlook Express\. The HP_Owner will be different on yours. Also sometimes it is put in the Windows directory but still hidden away like the above.

Thanks Ray - finally found them - I should have ticked off "search hidden files and folders"
