Computer Q&A Board / Questions / Start toolbar
Posted by: Harry, July 3rd, 2008, 8:39am
I have all my icons on de start-bar (my desk is empty). Sometimes i put new icons and remove others.
Now, everytime i restart de computer these icons are back like they where before the changes.
What can be the reason for this ???

Most of the items on the Start menu (I assume that is what you mean by start-bar and Start toolbar) are kept on the harddrive. So if they are reappearing on the Start menu after you delete them something must be putting them back on the harddrive (like restoring a backup).

When you say "the Start bar" if you mean the Quick Launch area immediately to the right of the Start button, then the solution may be the following. This is from the site shown below and has worked for many people in the past. Please post back your results.

http://www.annoyances.org/exec/forum/win98/t1009758382Use Regedit (or your favorite reg program) to go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer and change NoSaveSettings to 00 00 00 00. Restart your computer, put the icons in the order that you want them to be in, then restart again. This time the icons should remain as you placed them. Hope this one works for everyone. Dr Rabbit

Use Regedit (or your favorite reg program) to go to ..... |
If I could just throw in there, please backup your registry before editing it and implementing this excellent suggestion.
