Is there a way to  tell if my hard drive was truly wiped cleaned by my computer guy?  I fear that I paid for something that wasn't truly done, as I have all the same issues as before it was supposedly wiped and reloaded.

To rhe best of my knowledge, none of the "major drive manufacturers" supply any sort of software except for what is known as "low-level" (hardware) formatting. This does NOT guarantee that all data has been wiped out.

Your only true guarantee that you have a truly clean disk drive is to replace the drive itself, and re-build from OS on up.

Yes, there ARE programs and utilities that claim to "wipe and reformat" both allocated and unallocated free space - but your trust level is whatever you wish to believe,

"CLEAN" disk? Buy a brand new one - they are so cheap anymore it really doesn't cost much, be they "IDE" ot "SATA".

Better safe than sorrry...

   There is no benefit to having a "clean" disk except that files that are wiped off cannot be viewed.  So if you have something to hide, then have the disk wiped; otherwise, do not waste your time or money.
   You can check to see if the disk has been wiped by getting an undelete program (there are some that are free) and seeing if it finds anything.  If it finds files previously on the disk, it was not wiped.
