Can anyone please explain why all of a sudden I cannot drag and drop my money file from my desktop onto my secondary Zip Disk backup
I keep getting the message after a moment of writing to Zip.

Cannot copy MY Money.
Data Error  (Cyclic Redundancy Check)

Also I cannot copy to my Lexar Memory STik as it appears to have adopted
the same drive letter G as it is the same letter for my Zip Drive.

This is driving me mad,
please keep the answer as simple as you can to restore my sanity.

Many Thanks
Regards.
Harry.

If two drives have the same drive letter, that could be causing that error.  Have you tried restarting your computer?

Hi', Ray,

As you suggested I have restarted my computer
previous post,
concerning my Zip Drive And Lexar Flash Mem. Stik to no avail?.

Unfortunately you failed to answer my question as to what the error message
means, ie,

Cannot copy My Money:
Data error  (cyclic redundancy check).

Which fails to allow me to make a secondary backup to my Bank files
onto my Zip Disk.

Could you please resolve this issue first
then sort the mem. Stik letter G: possibly later.

Thanking You.
Regards.
Harold.

I just assumed that you were getting that error because there were two G drives.
To answer your question, I googled cyclic redundancy check and found the following website which explains what cyclic redundancy check (or CRC) is:  http://www.softwarepatch.com/tips/cyclic-redundancy.html

I don't know if this will help you but you can change your Zip drive to read as your "B" drive. I am assuming that your are using Windows XP.
Go to Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Computer Management, then to Disk Management.
Make sure you have a disk in your Zip drive and it would also be a good idea to have your flash drive installed also. When you get the the Disk Management screen, it will show the drive letters assigned to each drive. You should see DISK 0 which would be your hard drive. If you have no other hard drive then DISK 1 should be your Zip drive. It might say "Disk 1 Removable, 96MB Online. Right click on the Zip drive. You should now see the notation "Change Drive Letters or Path". You should now have a box that will allow you to change the drive letters. I made my Zip drive as "B". This eliminated any drive letter conflicts with other removable hard drives or flash drives.
