IT WAS SUGGESTED THAT TO PROTECT MY PC I DISABLE JAVA SCRIPT. WHAT IS IT AND HOW WOULD I DO IT. THANKS, BILL

If you could disable JavaScript, I doubt that it would help in any way to protect your computer.
There is Java and there is JavaScript. Java is much more "dangerous" than JavaScript because it can do much more, but I still would not recommend disabling either one.
Java is a programming language that is used to write many programs on the internet. Games and videos on the internet use Java. To disable it, you should uninstall the Java items in Add/Remove Programs. If you do that, you will find that many things on the internet will not work for you and I would think that you would receive a lot of errors while on the internet.
JavaScript is a language for scripts embedded in webpages that do little things like add up numbers, change an image when your mouse is over it, etc. I do not know how JavaScript can be disabled.
