Computer Q&A Board / Other Programs / Evaluation of Uniblue RegistryBooster2
Posted by: Ray, January 9th, 2008, 3:51am
One of our users asked me to evaluate Uniblue Registry Booster.
Here is what I found:
Some of the problems/errors in Uniblue were valid. The latest version of RegVac Registry Cleaner (
http://www.superwin.com/regvac.htm) finds all of these problems/errors that Uniblue finds but RegVac exceeds Uniblue in that it also finds thousands more and it is less expensive.
Add to this that many of Uniblue's results were
not correct, like
Empty Keys that were
not empty,
Missing and Invalid Paths that were
not missing or invalid, and
Invalid Shortcuts. Shortcuts are not a part of the registry and cleaning them should not be the task of a registry cleaner but it is a dishonest way to come up with more results than true registry cleaners. I found 93 problems/errors listed in Uniblue Registry Booster that really were really not problems or errors (your results may vary depending on the size and entries in your registry).
If I had let Uniblue clean the "problems and errors" that it found, it would have disabled many of my programs. Watch out for this potentially dangerous program.

I used Uniblue and have asked for a refund that was never honored. My experience was a disastrous result when using the Privascy part of the Unilblue System. It deleted a bunch of short cuts and the All Programs item on the Start box showed EMPTY. This made my system totally non-usable. A call to support provided no solution. The fix to restore to a previous machine state was also disabled! After some review of possible actions to restore my system, I decided to start WIN XP in the safe mode. This allowed me to get back to normal. Be aware! Stay away from this program.
