Computer Q&A Board / Other Programs / Windows Media Player

I have recently updated from AOL v9.0 to AOL v9.0VR at AOL's urging. I have a website which uses midi files to play hymn tunes, and develop these on my PC. I try them out as a wbsite using internet explorer. Since updating to AOL v9.0vr, the midi tunes are failing to play - only blank boxes appear on screen. But they still play via the actual website. The new AOL program seems to have changed a setting somewhere (in IE, I suspect), but I just can't locate any changes! Any answers very welcome.

Check that Windows Media Player is still enabled in Internet Explorer.
Goto Tools/Internet Options/Programs and click on the Manage add-ons button.
In the new window Show : Add-ons that have been used by Internet Explorer
Scroll down the window below and make sure that Windows Media Player is enabled.
This might solve your issue.

Many thanks for the reply. I had previously checked this out and found it correct. Amazingly since I posted the question, and without any changes on my part, several days after the "disablement", the ability to play midi files was completely back to working order! I have often wondered about computers, and I become increasingly convinced that they have a life of their own!!
