Computer Q&A Board / Other Programs / Want to add "Folder Size" column to Explorer
Posted by: Leib, December 23rd, 2007, 7:11am
I tried out Moveax's software which allowed adding 'Folder Size' as well as a number of other columns which would be useful for determining where my file system was possibly overweight. I liked the software, but it had a 30 day trial period and I'm not interested in paying for something which I feel Windows should have created for free in the 1st place LOL.
Anyway, I'm looking for recs from anyone who has found a good software (free, of course) which will add that column to Windows Explorer. I really don't need any other column, so very simple software would be adequate for me.
BTW when I was using Moveax's software I was able to identify over 2 gig in files that I was able to delete. That was in just under 1 hour of sitting time examining my files. TIA and @ Ray - keep up the good work! Great job you're doing.

Hi Leib
try this one
http://foldersize.sourceforge.net/I have not tried it, but it would seem to do what you (we !) want. SourceForge usually put out good stuff.
Let us know how well it works ?

Thanks pipdev for your suggestion.
I was unable to open the .msi extension file that I downloaded from the link you posted. I don't know why, and it is just as well because the FAQ on the site seems to bring up lots of problems with the app, basically saying it is still at a rather buggy stage of its life. I'll monitor the website occasionally and see if they've made progress, though, cause it does sound like what I've been looking for,

I have used this for some time with absolutely no "issues".
