Hello Everybody,

Is it possible to re-install windows xp over an existant windows partition without losing some user files?

   Yes.  As long as it is the same version of Windows.  So installing Windows XP over an existent Windows XP will work, just make sure that you install the new Windows XP to the same directory as the old one.
