Computer Q&A Board / WinRescue / Winrescue regpac
Posted by: johnboy51, November 5th, 2007, 3:46pm
I would like to know why is it when I use the winrescue regpac and it re-starts my quick launch toolbar is off. Then I have to go through the whole process of turning it back on and putting everything back in the order I use them..This happens usually 2 out of 3 times..

I don't know. I have never heard of that or had a problem with that.

Regarding the disappearing Launch bar. It is a problem with Windows. I correct it by restoring the registry. Once I am sure it is okay I run regpack. I have had it occur
after a regpack. I just restore the registry and rerun regpack. It happens to me most often on simple reboot. so i do not blame regpack. I suspect that some cleanup program that works on reboot is corrupting the registry. On my computer, I suspect Advanced Windows Care V2. I am quite confident the problem is not regpack. If the registry is corrupt before Regpack it may remain so afterwards. I suggest backing up your registry
before running regpack. Goodluck.

I need to clarify my previous post.
Here is my recommendation:
After a regpack with no problems, Save a backup.
After cleaning the registry and before regpack, reboot.
if your problem occurs just replace the registry and reboot,
if no problem occurs just run regpack. after a successful regpack save a copy of the registry.
Instead of reinstalling the launchbar it is faster and easier to replace the registry and reboot. I still believe that it is another program that corrupts the registry. I suspect
a cleanup or optimization program that runs on reboot. using "configsys" you might try
disabling them one by one to locate the problem.
