Computer Q&A Board  /  Windows  /  clipboard problem

Started yesterday, my clipboard does not empty for a new copy, i.e. cut and paste. This has never happened before.  Has anyone had this problem and how to solve it?  On reboot, it does clear  but on the next cut an paste, it does the same thing again.  Does it sound like a virus?  I use AVG and there has been no virus discovered.
Will try any suggestions.
Thanks in advance

If you are working with text, the clipboard is not supposed to empty after a paste.  When you cut or copy something into the clipboard, it stays there until you cut or copy something else into the clipboard.  You can paste whatever is in the clipboard a multiple number of times and it will still be in the clipboard.
If you are working with files, if you cut the files, they are emptied out of the clipboard after a paste.  If you copy the files, they are not emptied out of the clipboard after a paste.
