Hi, could anybody suggest a solution to this annoying problem?  When my pc starts up and the desktop appears, a few seconds later the screen goes blank and the desktop reappears but with large icons, the resolution has changed.  I then have to manually right click on the desktop and select settings and adjust the resolution to 800 by 600 so that I can see everything normally.  I am using a 19 inch Yusmart widescreen monitor which is plug and play with no separate drivers. ??)

Take a look at this page, it is for Vista, but some solutions should apply in XP also.
