Computer Q&A Board / Internet / internet disconnection

Using Orange broadband, XP on Hp computer, cable connection
When on-line I lose the internet connection when a telelphone call is made - no dial tone etc. Is there a tick box in internet set up I ned to do?

The easy solution would be to unplug the telephone wire from the back of your computer and see what happens.
