I just installed a new (linksys) wireless card.  I removed my old card/software via add/remove but the icons for that card still appear in Control Panel.  (1) how do I get rid of those icons in CP?

Related to the above is that it takes about 10 minutes for the PC to load my Network connection.  I have tried loading it in front of ZoneAlarm or behind it, it makes no difference it still takes forever.  (2) How do I speed up that loading.  I have run RegVac and SpeedStartup with no change.

I am running WindowsXP on a Dell Desktop.

Any help on either/both of these questions would be greatly appreciated!

Each icon in the Control Panel is a .cpl file in the Windows/System32 folder.  So you could look in the Windows/System32 folder for the .cpl file that is that icon and rename it so that it does not have the cpl extension (or delete it if you are sure it is the right one and you will not need it later).

Sometimes it takes your computer a long time to obtain the IP and DNS addresses automatically (see the TCP/IP properties for the connection).  Maybe that is what is causing the delay.  If you can find out from the network administrator the appropriate addresses, you can enter them in the Properties dialog and your computer will not have to try to obtain them automatically.
