Possible problems opening msconfig.
In order to open msconfig, you must be in the administrator's group.
The utility doesn't exist in Windows 2000.

If you are not running Win2K and you are an administrator, then try inserting the Windows installation disk and doing a repair install of Windows.

I used Explorer (using show hidden files) and cannot find the msconfig on my drive.  My system is XP Pro and I am the administrator.  So if I do the repair it will reinstall the msconfig and not mess anything else up (and my hot fix updates) ??

Thank you...

Have you tried typing msconfig in the "Run" box?
Does nothing happen?
It should be in the system 32 folder. [msconfig.exe]

Another possibility is to find the msconfig.exe file on your Windows CD or on the internet and put it in the System32 folder.
If the one on the CD is named something else, like msconfig.ex_ then it is compressed and you will have to uncompress it first.
