Yo! Happy to be aboard this forum..NOW..the prroblem..after reinstall OS XP PRO all worked excepted the C-D/R-W (Mitsumi CR-487ETE)  I tried troubleshooting..nothing!
I was offered the choice of going to the Registry..WRONG!  Can any one help? I have dr.hardware, if that information does any good????? Oh Yes! You can e-mail me. :'(

When you say it doesn't work, what level are you talking about?
Does it fail to operate at all, i.e., won't recognize or read a CD?
That generally indicates a hardware problem.
If it will read a CD, but won't write to a CDR or CDRW disk, then it is a software problem.
