Computer Q&A Board  /  Windows  /  Desktop icon font colors
Posted by: jrv8374, April 21st, 2007, 6:45pm
Ever since I’ve been using Windows 95 and what came after that, the names that go with the desktop icons automatically changed to either white or black font color, depending on the background color, i.e., a light background produced black characters and a dark background produced white characters.

They gave me a new computer at work that  uses XP Professional, 2002, with Service Pack 2. The desktop characters stay white regardless of how light or dark the background is. So when I use a light background, I can’t read the icon names, except for this annoying fuzzy gray shadow around the characters. I’ve  tried to find a setting I could change that enables the colors to switch and to get rid of the gray shadow, but haven’t been successful.  Of all the PCs I've used, this is the first time I've had this problem. I've always used the "classic" setting for the appearance.

Anybody out there know what I can do? Of course, this may be a feature that was locked in by our LIT people. Thanks for your help.
