Computer Q&A Board / RegVac / RegVac v 4.02.36 & 37
Posted by: windy, April 15th, 2007, 4:04pm
Good Morning Ray,
As a long time registered user of RegVac....and yep, it is the best! Have acquired a problem.
The two latest versions 4.02.36 & 37 when told to clean the registry...get all the way through the the first set of screens...and then quit working...Am running Win VISTA ULTIMATE.....If you have a copy of 4.02.35 laying around, would you please email it to me..As I have misplaced mine, and would like to see if it still works. I have a 3.+GHZ processor with 1.5GB RAM...so I feel there is no problem there. Have not installed any new software, so do not really know what is going on....Vista Ultimate just flashes a popup stating the RegVac is no longer working...no error number or any other indicator.
Thanks for your continued good work.

Vista Ultimate is wrong. RegVac is still working. Please let RegVac continue and it will finish.
We do not keep older versions. The older versions have the same problem.
Some things have changed in Vista. One of them is that it periodically asks programs that are running if they are still running. When a program does not answer back (which RegVac does not answer back when it is busy), it gives you that error message. Another problem with Vista is that it uses much more system resources which causes programs like RegVac to run slower resulting in more of the "RegVac is no longer running" errors.
IE7 is yet another problem. It has memory problems and can end up hogging all of the resources. Other programs may also contribute to this. If all of the resources are being used, RegVac (and any other program) will run at a snails pace (10 to 100 times slower than usual). This happens in WinXP but is much, much worse in Vista.
