Computer Q&A Board  /  RegVac  /  Two RegVacs

On April 1st I read there was an update to RegVac so I went to the site and downloaded the new version. I ended up with two versions on my computer, RegVac and RegVac Registry Cleaner so I went into Add/Remove Programs and removed the oldest vers. created: Friday Nov 11, 2005. That left newer one created: Sunday Nov. 26, 2006 in the Add/Remove Programs. Then I did a RegVac cleaning that removed 20 or so "things"

Add/Remove removed the desktop icon so I went into Explore to put the icon from the new version on desktop. To my surprise I saw the old folder for RegVac and all its files still there. How come the update didn't take care of all this or did I go awry somewhere?

Evidently, it has been a while since you have updated RegVac.  Some time ago, I did change the name of RegVac to RegVac Registry Cleaner.  So when you installed the new version of RegVac, you ended up with two RegVacs.
The update didn't take care of all of that, because I didn't know that it was supposed to and so I did not program it to.

Not too long on the previous update; a few moons ago to the nice fade in/out style.
Having deleted the old RegVaq thru Add/Remove Programs, but still finding its folder and files in Explore is it safe to delete the old folder/files in Explore?  It contains 3.01MB.
The new RegVaq Registry Cleaner contains 496KB. Does that sound about right?

The installation file of RegVac is 1.17mb.  When it is installed, the RegVac folder is 4.13mb.  The program file of RegVac, regvac.exe, is 2.53mb itself.  So I don't know what you are seeing that is 496kb.
I don't know what to tell you about what to do.  If you want to delete all of the RegVacs in the folders, in Add/Remove Programs, and in the Start menu and then reinstall the latest version of RegVac, you could do that.
Or you could combine the two RegVac directories (just make sure the latest regvac.ini file is kept and the older one is deleted) and then install the latest version of RegVac to that directory.
Or you could delete the old RegVac folder/file.
   Or you could do nothing.
If you suspect that RegVac is not all there, you can always reinstall it.  RegVac comes as a complete package.  The only other items that you may have in an old RegVac folder are the undo files.

Thank you, Ray. I went to Add/Remove Programs and uninstalled RegVac. Then went Start/Search and found 8 remaining RegVaq files and manually deleted those. Then went to your site and downloaded latest registered version. All is well.
