Computer Q&A Board / RegVac / System Cleaners

Ray, I've used RegVac in the past and found it to be a pretty good program. It stopped working when I upgraded to XP Pro. I now use Norton's System Works to clean up my computers.
I also use ADAWARE SE Personal and Spybot S&D.
Are you familiar with these programs? Are they doing the job? Should I get RegVac as well?
Thanks. Great site btw.

RegVac works in WinXP. Tens of thousands of people use it in WinXP everyday. If you had a problem with it, you should have written me and told me. I cannot fix a problem that I don't know about.
RegVac cleans the registry. It is a registry cleaner. Those other programs are not.
Norton System Works does have a System Optimizer in it, but that cleans only a fraction of what RegVac cleans (that is probably why they call it a system optimizer and not a registry cleaner).
Adware and Spyware programs are pretty much a con. Yes, if you get adware and spyware on your computer, they will clean it out. The thing is that most people do not have a problem with adware or spyware, yet these programs will find hundreds of items. What benefit are you getting from these programs? Are they cleaning the registry? No. Are they keeping some spy program from running in the background and revealing all of your deepest secrets? Probably not.
If you want registry problems fixed, a clean registry, and a more efficient and stable system, use RegVac. It far exceeds other registry cleaners.

Thanks for the info Ray. The problem with RegVac is that when I up graded to XP Pro I had to reinstall the program but the disk, a 3 1/2" floppy, had stopped responding.
When I put it in the A Drive I got the message, "Disk in Drive A is not formatted. Do you want to format it now?"
Well, no. Formatting it will erase all data, right? So I thought that it just wouldn't run with XP.
What can I do?

It asked to format the diskette because the diskette was bad. Diskettes get bad over time or can be ruined by coming near magnetic fields.
You can always go to the Registered Users section of the RegVac page on our website, download the latest version of RegVac, and install it on your computer. You will need to use the name and email address that you used to order RegVac (unless you have changed your email address in our Registered Users section) to enter the Registered Users section.
