Computer Q&A Board  /  RegVac  /  RegVac in shock

I mentioned this problem perhaps a couple of years back but it seems to be a perennial thing. I am a registered user but after any kind of hiccup on my machine the programme goes into shock and when I open it it comes up with an error message, something like 'runtime error 216'.

I have both REGVACR and REGVACZ archived, version 4.02.28, and am now having to use REGVACZ again.

:'(No matter what, with reinstalling registered RegVac or Windows itself, this problem persists over the years!

It is not RegVac.  Something on your computer is crashing RegVac.
About a week ago on this discussion board rarrows had the same problem in the thread, "Something Messing RegVac Up" - http://www.regvac.com/forum/b-questions/m-1169998944/.  He figured out that it was a defective Java update.

I found by google that runtime error 216 could be evidence of a trojan, so I checked that first.

The key for me was Runtime error.

I first checked VB runtime It was Okay. It is okay to have older versions as some programs require them. I have 4 versions on my computer. Check for latest version and try reloading older versions.

I next tried Java and found a corrupt download. I had updates for Java on auto.
I deleted the bad update and redownloaded the latest Java. By the way you have to remove old versions manually after successfully installing the new.

Hope this helps.
