Computer Q&A Board  /  Internet  /  Fatal Login Error

When ever I click on a link to reply to something, I get the Loginnet.Passport. After entering my user ID and password I get the following: Fatal Login Error hr=80041034,f=-2147217356.
Can anyone tell me what this is an how to get rid of it. Microsoft refuses to accept the fact that it exists.

Hi-Don,
It appears this has to do with a Hotmail account (perhaps MSN), and the login for that at passport.com
Are you following the usual procedure for logging in to Hotmail?
By chance, do you have MS Outlook on this pc?
I encourage you to review the setting for E-mail client on this system.
In Internet Explorer, select Tools > Internet Options> click on Programs tab.
in the block, "Internet Programs"; look at "E-mail" line. What does it show for email program?
If you have Hotmail, you should set it to Hotmail. Press the down arrow (at E-mail) and make your selection.
Another thing to consider, delete contents of your temporary internet cache folder, and possibly delete any old passport cookies
