What is the easiest way to upgrade to USB 2.0?

You probably do not have to upgrade. If the device and ports handle USB2 (which all but very old ones should) then they will use the USB2 protocol. If not, they will use USB1.
There is a big difference in speed between USB1 and USB2, so if the device is creeping along really slow then it is probably using USB1.
If the device is made to use USB2 (which only old devices would not) and it is creeping along at USB1 speeds, then your ports may be USB1. If the ports are USB1, then you need to get USB2 ports. You can do this by purchasing a PCI card of USB2 ports and installing it in your computer. Then you can use the ports in it instead of the other USB1 ports on your computer.
