Computer Q&A Board / WinRescue / Creating WinRescue XP Boot Disk
Posted by: hctim57, December 10th, 2006, 5:49pm
There may be existing threads on this topic but I could not find them via SEARCH. Using WinRescue XP I am trying to make a boot disk. My laptop is diskette-less so I am assuming I can make a boot CD for XP using the D drive. I get prompted to format but get an error with no explanation. I bypass the format step and WinRescue starts backing up my registry. It completes and says the boot diskette is created. When I EXPLORE the D: I see nothing on the CD and 100% free space. Is this normal?

WinRescue makes a boot diskette (floppy disk). It does not make a boot CD because that requires a completely different procedure and operating system.
We have XP Recovery CD Maker which makes a boot CD for WinXP. Please try the trial version of XP Recovery CD Maker before purchasing because not all WinXP installations come with the necessary files for it to make a boot CD.
