Computer Q&A Board / Other Programs / Word's "Save As" disappeared
Posted by: Kathryn906, November 9th, 2006, 1:18pm
The option to save as in Word for Windows has disappeared from my office computer (a non-profit situation with donated / very old stuff). It can, of course, be gotten around, but it annoys me greatly. Any brilliant ideas out there? Thanks in advance!

This would sound like one of the registry keys for the program has been damaged or deleted.
Some versions of Word have a tool called Detect and repair under the help heading on the program's tool bar.
Another possibility would be to reinstall the program if you had an installation disk.
Depending on the version of Windows, you could also try restoring a backup of the registry that was made prior to the occurence of the problem.
Perhaps someone else has other suggestions or a different view of the problem.
Good luck :)

Which version of Word do you have? Try to go to View, then toolbars, then customize, then commands tab, on the right, find the Save As, then drag and drop it to the toolbar.
good luck

Thanks to you both - I tried the Toolbar thing before I posted; Save As is gone. I'll try the Registry thing. Forgot to have myself notified of responses so I'm late replying (story of my life...)
Thanks again!
