Computer Q&A Board / Internet / Cursor in Internet Explorer 7
Posted by: Warren, November 5th, 2006, 5:01pm
I recently installed IE7 and have a problem with it.
Whenever I open any search engine, Google, Alta Vista, Yahoo etc. the flashing cursor does not appear in the search area where you type the search words; it appears in the address window.
This does not happen, for me using IE6. With IE6 the flashing cursor always appears in the search area where one types the search words.
Am using Windows XP Home.

On the IE7 toolbar, go to tools/Internet options/advanced/search from the address bar.
Click on Do not search from the address bar and click apply at the bottom of the window. That should solve your problem.
Good luck :)

Thanks for the help.
I did what you suggested and re-started the computer.
That did not fix the problem
Today I discovered something about this.
When I log onto any web site that requires a password and then open any search engine, the flashing cursor appears where it should -- in the area where you type the search phrase.
Hope this is some kind of clue about this problem.
Warren,
peace
