Computer Q&A Board  /  Other Programs  /  Problem updating Acronis

Hello again, Ray is doing a good job keeping this site running, thank you Ray.
I recently bought a backup program called Acronis. It looks good and works "50%" for me. This means it works fine on my laptop with winXP version 9, but with my tower and win2000 now with version 10, there came up some problems when updating from verision 9 to 10, I think?
The validating and recovery operations makes strange error messages, with reference to a file in windows directory-> web folder ->and file default.htt, I cannot figure out the connection between Acronis and this file.
Anyone using this program?
reg.

I have been using Acronis 9 (plan on upgrading next weekend) and it runs 100% for me on XP Home on my desktop.

When you upgraded - did you uninstall the previous version? I did some minor upgrades and they seemed to work better when you uninstall the previous version as Acronis installs an actual DEVICE driver for the backups. I had less little gliches if I completely uninstalled the previous version first myself manually (using ADD/REMOVE)

The default.htt file has to do with your folder web view in 2000 - that is you are viewing folders as web pages. They can change while using the system. Try booting into safe mode and running the backup and see if you get the same errors. My guess is the file is changing between the backup and the verfication.

You can check out the Acronis forum on their site to see if the issue has been mentioned or a fix offered.

Well, after a long wait I got the answer: It does not work well with WinNT or Win2000. It is actuelally made for WinXP ( maybe also Vista dont know).
This did not read anywhere actually. So I got it from someone at Acronis.
I removed the 10 version, all of it and reinstalled the 9 version. It works.
thats that.
