Computer Q&A Board  /  Other Programs  /  Won't Play .ASX files

My computer recently quit playing .ASX files.  I re-installed WMP 10.0, but I continue receiving the error message....

Windows Media Player cannot play the file because the associated playlist is not valid.
error: C00D119D, cannot play this file.

In WMP 10.0, under options--> files type, I do not see .asx files listed as a choice.

I used to be able to play this type file, but not anymore.  Any help?

Thanks.

Seven different file types are included under .asf files, one of which is .asx
If you have picked .asf as one of your choices then it should play .asx as well.

Have you tried opening the file with any other players on your computer? Irfanview can also open .asf files.

I did open up the file in Winamp and it played fine.  I am still unable to see why WMP won't open it.

Go figure......
