What is the error message?
Dr. Watson is a program that checks multiple areas of your computer, so there are many possible errors it could be finding.
A good first response to any error on your computer is to run check disk [error checking] program.

We need more information about exactly what is wrong.
If you can boot to Windows and use it, then I would run check disk. Open "My Computer", right click on disk C:, choose properties, choose the tools tab and click on "check now" under error checking. Choose both options. The dialog will then tell you to schedule a check after rebooting, since the program needs full control of the disk in order to run and repair it.

Another option, if you cannot run Windows:
Do you have an installation CD for Windows XP?
If you do, then set the boot order in the BIOS so that the computer boots from the CD drive first. Then run a repair installation from the CD. If this works, you won't have to reinstall everything, just update Windows from the Microsoft Update site.

Dr. Watson is primarily a tool for network administrators and programmers, it isn't very useful to most users without programming experience.
