Computer Q&A Board / Other Computer Problems / Monitor display "wigsout"

I have a Gateway E1700 monitor (?) and nVida MX2/400 video card with updated drivers, running Win 2000 Pro, Intel P III, 815ET chipset, 512, ram. Intermittently, the monitor wil change display resolution. To fix this, I go in to display properties and change refresh rate. This holds for a period of time (hours or days) and then the monitor flashes and changes again. How can I determine if is the card or the monitor itself? When the monitor goes into Funk mode, the adjustments (vert, horz, ect) do not work at all. Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thank you!

I would bet that the monitor is going bad since the monitor adjustments don't work when the problem occurs.
Check by using the monitor with a different computer if you have one available.

I had a similar problem, using Nvidia g force.
But eventually I had to change my 6 months old monitor,to fix this problem.
