Computer Q&A Board / Windows / Transition program WANTED!
Posted by: triuno, April 30th, 2006, 8:29am
There is one issue that comes up in many discussions nowadays:
Why does not Microsoft / or / someone else ( better even ) do an easily usable computer program that can do the transition from lets say Windows XP to the one to come ie. Windows Vista?
This program would: facilitate the installation and transferal of all programs and thus create more revenue faster to Redmond boys. It would absolutely make our work, the users day, a whole lot easier when the day comes and we have to move over some 10-100 programs into the new OS environment.
Economy: If there is nx100 million (for calculus only ) XP OS out there and this transformer program would cost a reasonable 50 USD ( its layout could be that it is an once usable program only, new idea? ) it would thus for nx100 million OS users create nx5 billion USD!....Many or all of us would pay 50 USD or even 100 USD to have this transfere done by a program in 2-3 hours instead of 1-2-3 weeks manually with all its sorrows incorporated!
Not bad?
Please send me the first copy, whoever gets this done.
Have a nice day

Microsoft already does that. Just install Windows Vista over WinXP and everything will get transferred over. Every Windows has done that.
From a programming standpoint a transition program as you describe is impossible.

As Ray said, every version of Windows has been available as a FULL version or an UPGRADE.
