using Windows XP Prof. with all possible updates :

minimising any open page or program on the desktop by using the minimise button in the right top corner, should result in placing the page/program as a button on the taskbar. Until some days ago this worked properly.

Now, the page/program disappears and no button appears on the taskbar. I can only bring the page/program back on the desktop using Ctr/Alt/Del and than activate.

This happens with "user nr. 1 " ;   switching to "user nr.2 "  the problem does not happen.

Using Windows Logo and M to minimise and Logo, Shift and M to maximise again, works without any problem.

Has anybody any idea how  to solve this problem ?

This sounds like a registry key problem.
I would check what programs are installed for user nr. 1 that are not installed for user nr. 2
One of those programs is probably the source of the problem.
Only solution that comes to mind readily is to reinstall Internet Explorer :(
