I was downloading some icons the other day and when I was done I had a permanent one stuck right in the middle of my desktop. I've changed desktop paper tried to drag it, move it, delete it, and nothing works, any help would be appreciated. :P

Thanks

Question: If you right click on the icon, do you get the context menu? If so, see what it says under properties.
Also have you tried deleting it in safe mode?

No it acts like it's not even there. I tried the safe mode but it didn't show up there. Any other ideas?

Assuming you have windows XP, go to "documents and settings", find your profile and clik on it. Under that you will see a folder called "Desktop". Click on that. You should see all the things on your desktop. See if the icon is listed there. If it is, just delete it.

Thanks for all the input people. Sorry but it wasn't showing up in the directory tree either.  What did finally get rid of it was a program called remove on reboot.  A very good program for getting rid of those annoying programs that don't want to go 'cause "they are beng used by something else"! :P
