This one seems beyound my RegVac though I love the program. I had a real bust and it was necessary to rebuild a computer and reinstall all. Things are pretty good but some programs were gone and had to be replaced. I found the download for my Visioneer 8920 USB and installed the program and it seems normal. However, my computer (running XP Pro) does not recognize the scanner. Everything else through my USB ports work fine and when I plug in the scanner and turn it on I hear the computer making the tone. It is just that the OneTouch is not seen by the program and therefore I get no connection. I really like this scanner and it worked great until the hard-drive break down but how do I get the unit to connect?

It sounds like the scanner did not install properly but if that were the case it would have given you an error during installation.  It is possible that during installation the USB drivers could not be found, but as I said, that should have caused an error.  What has worked for me is that when I get the error during installation, I click the Back button until I get to the place where you can specify the directory where the driver is.  I select the Windows/INF folder.

I removed and reinstalled the software 2X and the install seems to go well. I then get a message to connect the scanner and turn on the power and it says that it windows will find and install the drivers. I hear the connection tones (3 quick beeps) and then nothing. It dose not see the scanner and it will not let me proceed to configure.

I don't know.  The only thing I can suggest is to go to the company's website and see if they can help you.
