I need to find out why my system has lost the windows start and log out sounds? can any one let me know just how this is fix.

   Try going to Start then Control Panel (you may have to go to Settings first) and select Sounds and Audio Devices.  There is a list of sounds on the Sound tab.  See if there is one designated for Start Windows and Exit Windows.  If not, you need to designate one.  If there are sounds designated, maybe the problem is with the setup of your sound card.
