have two problems, running windows xp pro with a 256 ram [know thats wrong but it came this way should be atleast 512ram] anyway my windows defrag.stopped working and still can't use system restore. [no restore points come up at all] tried to repair with xp disk but didn't work. if i reinstall windows i will lose the dell drivers. can you help me?

   My guess is that the defrag problem is due to the 256 RAM and the size of your harddrive.  If you are not getting an error in defrag, it is probable that it is working and if you wait a few days that it will finish the defrag.  XP's defrag does not do well with drives as big as today's drives.
   The problem with System Restore may be something else.  There are some posts on this forum on this subject.  Here are three:
