OK, first off hello to everyone who reads this. I'm new here. I know a little about pc's but definitely not enough. My question is really like a 20 part one. I just went and had my motherboard and two hard drives swapped out. I told them that I wanted my pc quicker so I could do various things all at once without it lagging really bad.

Well I got it back and it doesn't really seem much faster or better at handling running multiple programs. So, here I am asking all of you for help. First off I'd like to post everything that my pc is running hardware-wise etc. so you can see. Then i'm wondering if quite possibly the people didn't turn on or off some options (or similar to) that would make it quicker. So as soon as I hear from someone on here I'll post the information needed. It'd be great to find out that I didn't waste money on pretty much the same speed as I had before. About the only thing that I know good about it is being able to run Vista Ultimate. BUT wait!, now 7 is out ughhhh.. lol thanks in advance for all who help me with this.

Just switching one motherboard and harddrives for another motherboard and harddrives is not going to make anything faster.  Now if a faster CPU was put in it, it should be faster.  If more memory is added, it may be faster.
The more you have running on your computer, the slower it will be.  Sometimes one process will slow the computer down a lot.  Here is what I wrote in a different post about detecting that:

Often a program running in the backgroud will slow down your computer.  When your computer seems to be running too slow, go to the Task Manager (press Ctrl, Shift, and Delete and then click on the Task Manager button), click on the Processes tab, and see which items are using high amounts of memory (compare the number in the Mem Usage column).  Not all of the ones with high memory usage are slowing your computer down but one or two of them may be.  You just have to figure out which one is hogging your memory.
Ones that I have found to slow down my computer are wuauclt.exe (Windows' Updater), iexplore.exe (Internet Explorer), and Skype (even though I was offline and not using Skype).

A much better optio is to run ms config.
Go to start:
In XP click run.
In Vista type into the search bar.
msconfig.
On the startup key look for the programs that are hogging memory that you don't need on a regular basis, Printer files, for instance, Google updater, adobe updater, windows live - you name it. Uncheck everything you don't need and your result will be a lot of free memory as well as a faster start up time.

Years ago I doubled the speed of my CPU & was not happy with the results. Then my brother sent me a "HOT" video card & BAM -- I could see the difference in a very large way. A decent $100 to $150 + video card is very important. I did not think so as I do not play games much, but it makes a huge difference. Especially if you are trying to run on-board video  -- which is always a terrible idea
