Problem with Win Rescue Regpack

Hi all,
When I try to do a Regpack I get the following error message:

The follwing files could not be Regpacked

C:\\WINDOWS\registry.zzz

WARNING- An error has occurred RegPack was not successful

I tried restoring the spare registry but that didn't solve the problem.

I've been using Regpack for a long time and have never encountered a problem with it until now and don't know how to go about trying to remedy the problem myself. I'd sure apprecaite any help anyone can offer! Thanks in advance!

You sent me an email asking this question. I sent an answer. Have you checked the Attributes of that file and the folder it is in to make sure it is not Read-only?

No,Ray, sorry but I can't find that file in order to check if it's read-only or not. I opened Windows Explorer, went to C:\\WINDOWS\WinRescue and there are only two folders there, Redo and Undo,neither of which contains registry.zzz. I'm a rank novice when it comes to troubleshooting problems and such.

How's it going? Check out this link. It refers to C:\windows\r27 which is the temp directory used by WINRESCUEXP. If you delete this temp directory your problem may resolve itself.

Hi again,thanks Willk for the link you referred me to in your reply. I went there and as per that website I uninstalled and then reinstalled WinRescueXP and it's working fine now

I probably should have thought of doing that myself but at least now if I have trouble again in the future I'll keep that in mind!

If someone reads this and wants to reply I'd like to know why I wasn't able to find the registry.zzz file on my computer though. Was I not looking in the correct folder or something?
