hi guys, i am using AVG free anti virus, but my pc still gets infected easily, now am considering kaspersky, do u think it will make a difference?

I doubt it. I would focus on the firewall and if possible pickup a cheap router (most of which have a hardware firewall) since a hardware firewall is far more effective. Obviously opening suspicious executables negates all of these protections. Also consider programs such as ThreatFire which are free and can run concurrently with most antivirus programs. They use a different methodology that can frequently handle brand-new viruses and Trojans that hit the Internet.

   Most viruses come from opening virus attachments to emails, so you should not open attachments unless you are 100% sure what the attachment is and who it is from.  If you do not know who an email comes from, delete the email and do not open its attachment.
   The second most frequent source of viruses is from questionable websites like porn websites and software cheat websites.  Be cautious about opening any files from these types of websites or better yet just do not go to such websites.
   Almost all viruses can be avoided by taking the above steps.
   Kaspersky is a good antivirus program but it locks its directories which can cause problems with other programs.

I have been using Avast....the Free program... for almost 2 years. It is excellent at alerting me to viruses that are in my emails. It does slow down your computer at  bootup because it scans and updates virus definitions each time you hook up to the internet, but it is so worth it to me. It gives me an audio as well as a visual alert, and instructs me in how to safely continue.
