xp - there was an icon on the left end of the toolbar that when left clicked brought me back to the desktop. Without realizing it I left clicked and pushed that icon up into the list of my drives, folders, etc. How do I reestablish it in the tool bar?

Just open the List of drives,folders and drag the icon back to your toolbar. Make sure the toolbar is unlocked.
