Dear Ray, I have on my computer Java (TM) Runtime Environment 6 Update 1 (159 MB) and Java (TM) 6 Update 5 (136 MB). Both are called insecure by a program, called Securia Personal Software Inpector. They could be security risks. What do you think? Can I remove them to be on the safesite? Thank you in advance. Best wishes. Rob |

I would remove Securia Personal Software Inspector. I know nothing about Securia but it reporting Java as a security risk makes me very suspicious of it. |

Thank you, Ray, for your quick response. The Securia P.S.Inspector was adviced by one of the leading PC magazines in Holland. I will follow your advice and remove it. regards Rob |

Actually Secunia PSI ( nor Securia)is a great and solid program. Older versions of Java were unsecure and it is correct in identifying them as such. Java has been updated to correct this issue. |

I'll have to add my two cents. I've used Secunia PSI for about a year and really love it. It checks your installed software and not only tells you which ones are a security risk but gives you the link for the latest version. Only takes a few minutes. Yes, I got the same message and removed the two older versions of Java with no problems. A new and even improved version of Secunia PCI just came out this week. |

Thank you for your info concerning my question about Java. I have meanwhile discovered the answer which may help plonkeroo and others. Go to Explorer - Program Files. Click on Java and you'll find all the info in the Readme and other links. Rob |

Could you expand on what you said? There is no primary page in Program Files (WinXPsp3), just folders for each installed programme. In the Java directory each version of Java has its own individual ReadMe. |
