I HAVE A TOSHIBA SATELLITE L25 S1216 LAPTOP, APPROX. 3 YEARS OLD RUNNING XP HOME EDITION. MY CD/DVD (D DRIVE UPPED AND DISAPPEARED ON ME.  THE ACTUAL UNIT ITSELF RUNS BUT MY COMPUTER DIDN'T RECOGNIZE IT, I WENT INTO EXPLORER AND IT'S GONE!!!  WTH.    I'VE GONE TO THE TOSHIBA WEBSITE AT http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi.....B&all_docs=false, WELL THE OTHER BAD NEWS IS I'M IN WASHINGTON & MY RECOVERY DISK IS IN MONTANA, IS THERE AN EASIER WAY TO FIND THE SAME DRIVER FOR MY LAPTOP???

this might work. go into Device Driver and find your CD/DVD drive and uninstall it. Restart your laptop.
